THE CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC DATA WAS CONFIRMED BY DNA SEQUENCING. THE REASON FOR THESE DIFFERENCES IS PROBABLY DUE TO EVOLUTIONARY VARIATIONS. SEQUENCES VARIATIONS AMONG S.MARCESCENS CHITINASE A THAT WERE ISOLATED IN SEVERAL PLACES IN THE WORLD ARE KNOWN. IN THIS CASE THE STRAIN IS FROM THE COLLECTION OF PROF. ILAN CHET.
